"This volume is a complete success (...) The most notable sections of Le Tombeau de Couperin are the light and airy Prélude, the charming if bittersweet Forlane and the virtuosic Toccata, which is clean, fast and unflagging. Even better is Larderet’s Gaspard de la nuit." -

"...Vincent Larderet is a pianist who truly understands Ravel’s music and enters into a genuine artistic dialogue with it. His interpretation brings together everything that characterises this music: elegance, lightness and depth. His pianistic technique is flawless – but even more impressive is the artistic maturity of his interpretation, which transports the listener to the Parisian cultural world of that era." -

"The transcription of the Introduction and Allegro is a revelation (...) which finds a beautiful realisation under Vincent Larderet’s fingers. Gaspard de la nuit is the other highlight of this second instalment (...). A somewhat theatrical funeral ceremony, Le Gibet, with a greater sonic presence than in its first version 10 years earlier, paints a particularly dark and vivid picture. The performer, who promises a ‘much more accomplished new version’, also delivers on his promise in Scarbo, where greater fidelity to the text is combined with a more nuanced interpretation – Michelangeli’s overwhelming influence has faded slightly here." -

"At their best, Vincent Larderet's interpretations find an unaffected poise and finesse that perfectly suit the work concerned. Among these are the world premiere recordings of the arrangements (by Ravel's lifelong friend and colleague Lucien Garban) of the chamber-group Introduction et Allegro, and of the exquisite violin-and-piano Berceuse sur le nom de Fauré, where Ravel is already searching out the more advanced harmonic world of his idiom of the 1920s. In Le Tombeau de Couperin's ultra-demanding Toccata, Larderet's not-too-quick tempo and superlative control of pace and sonority generate a surging tour de force. (…) Scarbo from Gaspard de la nuit is delivered with phenomenal pace and accuracy (…)" -

"… Vincent Larderet brings both breadth and grandeur to his interpretations, at times giocoso, at times sardonic when the score allows, radiant and dazzling, yet also imbued with impressionistic nuances, all underpinned by a visceral clarity of musical discourse. A gifted storyteller with brilliant pianistic technique… Vincent Larderet reveals his artistic range with ease and breadth, marked by an astringent lucidity born from the inner core of an exceptional musical intelligence…” -

"On the last page of the booklet there is a beautifully captured sketch of Ravel by none other than our pianist at age 12! So we have a talented visual artist as well as a pianist and that’s just what we need for the world of Ravel. (...) This fine collection bodes well for the future and we look forward to further volumes from this exceptional pianist." -

"Not all pianists are able to answer such an 'equation with many variables', but Vincent Larderet offers his own solution: he manages to create his own, very specific style of interpretation of Ravel."
